Dr Andrew Dawood and Dr Susan Tanner lectured together on Friday 11th May at the Annual Spring Scientific Meeting for the British Society for Restorative Dentistry. The conference was held at The Royal College of Surgeons over two days with a fantastic Annual Conference Dinner.
Andrew and Susan lecture regularly on surgical and prosthodontic aspects of implant dentistry in the UK and internationally, and are widely published in the scientific literature. Andrew and Susan are particularly interested in advanced implant rehabilitation of patients who have atrophic jaws and maxillofacial defects from surgical resection or trauma, treating them with the goal of providing immediate fixed reconstructions, even where there is an extensive tissue deficit.
Andrew has a number of significant innovations to his name, including the development of an award winning computerised implant drill controller, and various implant designs including bifunctional and zygomatic implants.
Having been at the forefront of implant dentistry, Susan is a keen proponent for increasing the presence of women in this field;www.bwsid.co.uk. Susan is also a trustee of the charity “Saving Faces”, “Facing The World“, dedicated to supporting nationwide research into head and neck cancer and trauma surgery, prevention of oral diseases in the younger generation and awareness of facial disfigurement.
